$525K Settlement: Tractor-Trailer Rear-End Collision in New Jersey Leads to Compensation
A rear-end collision involving two tractor-trailers on the New Jersey Turnpike resulted in a $525,000 settlement for the plaintiff, Julius Stanley. The incident occurred on January 21, 2022, in Edison, New Jersey. Stanley was driving north when the passenger side of his tractor-trailer cab was struck by the left rear of a tractor-trailer operated by Chrashauna Ball, a driver for BHF Logistics Inc.
The force of the collision caused Stanley’s vehicle to overturn, forcing him off the road. Stanley sustained serious injuries, including multiple fractures to his hand, wrist, and leg. His injuries required surgeries involving open reductions and internal fixations to repair the damage. Following his procedures, Stanley had to remain non-weight-bearing for several weeks and underwent extensive physical therapy to regain mobility and strength. Even two years after the accident, Stanley continued to consult with his surgeon.
Stanley filed a lawsuit against both Ball and BHF Logistics Inc., claiming that the accident was the result of Ball’s negligence while operating the vehicle. The case, Stanley v. Ball, was filed in Middlesex County Superior Court. Represented by attorney David Rehe of Brandon J. Broderick Personal Injury Attorney at Law, Stanley sought compensation for his past and future pain, suffering, and medical expenses.
After a series of legal discussions and negotiations, the parties reached a mediated settlement in February 2024. BHF Logistics’ insurance carrier, National Independent Truckers Insurance Co., agreed to pay Stanley $525,000 in compensation. Stanley’s legal team successfully argued for this settlement based on the severe nature of his injuries and the extensive recovery process.
