Man Injured During Appliance Delivery Reaches $1 Million Settlement
A $1 million settlement was reached for a Kansas City contractor who was injured in a 2020 car accident in Eudora, Kansas, while assisting with appliance delivery. He filed a claim against the company he was working with and its driver.
The collision occurred when box-truck driver London McBride of Kansas City, 27, an employee of KG Transportation of Kansas City, Kansas, ran a stop sign on eastbound County Road 460 and collided with a tractor trailer traveling southbound on County Road 1061, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report provided by plaintiff’s attorney Charles R.C. Regan.
Passenger Steven Mario Gates, 35, an independent contractor, was thrown from the truck. He sustained several fractures, bulging discs in his spine, a severe concussion, a right wrist injury, and cracked ribs. The accident occurred on December 28, 2020, at 1:20pm.
According to Regan’s records, Gates reached an agreement with KG Transporation’s insurer for the company’s coverage limits in October 2022. The company’s counsel did not respond to a request for comment.
